Little Bit’s Life

Little bit, it’s time to take those training wheels off today. I think you are ready to ride that bike on you own I thought o my self and then

Little bit: Apa, what do you mean?

WhatI meant to say. Is that say is that those little wheels on the back of your bike are coming off and you will have to find your balance to keep going forward.

After I removed the training wheels, Chiquita got on the bike and I held her up and told her to start pedaling like she normally does. Started at the house on the side walk where I would get her up to speed and let her go. She would get scared  and jump off after a few feet. This went on for a couple of blocks every time she would jump off and say she could not do it.

Then we made it to and open space where there was nothing  but us pushing along. And at this point is where she started to get the hang to it first for a few feet and then she just kept going in a straight line and she jumps off.

What happed?

Little bit: I could not stop or turn.

Oh I see. look here when you want to stop you push the pedal back like this as demonstrated to her with the wheel of the ground as it was spinning and I showed her how the breaks work to stop the wheel. Also, to turn you  have to turn the handle bar like before and learn to feel where you are in balance.

I sent her off again and she improved with every try and eventually she could stop and and go in circles. She even started to take off on her own. So she could now ride her bike on her own.

We  now continued to go to show off her new skill to our folks that lived near by. On the way there she fell again, this time she did not jump off in time and landed on her hands as she hit the ground. She started to cry as she lay there on the ground. I helped her get up and she showed me her hands. Her hands had many little goat heads and there was little red blood dots as I removed them. She was still crying and I told her that she was going to have to stop crying and she was going to have to get back on the bike so we could make it to our destination because I could not carry her, her bike, and my bike.

The look on her face showed pain and sadness as she sniffled as the tears ran down her face from her eyes. I wiped them off and helped her back on and told her that he was going to be ok and the the pain was going to go away eventually. She did get back on the bike and with grate main graded the handle bar  with her little hands and road her little pink princess bike to get a ride home.
